ONE YELLOW RABBIT
Wednesday May 2, 2007 - Saturday, May 12, 2007
Macula is a tale of rituals and mythology that narrates a journey of Pre-Hispanic legends. The ensemble has put together a theatrical event that mirrors the Aztec and Spanish stories of the images of Tonantzin-Guadalupe, which through the years evolved into one of the most visited Marian apparition images, also surrounded by mystery and controversy when small detailed figures were found in the images eyes.
MACULA tells the story of an earthly goddess, who gives birth to a winged creature. Separated shortly after his birth, he is given the task to look for elements to create a majestic cloak made of petals. In his path, he discovers a fantastical world that represents the deep connection between mother and son, portraying through mystical symbols the timeless veneration of the mother figure.
MACULA is the groups second collaboration after its successful performance of dance poetry, Neruda Nude.
The performing ensemble includes Norma Lewis, Kevin MacDonnell, Elan Pratt and Emily Talia*. Javier Vilalta choreographs the production designed by Derek Paulich and Whitney Huget-Penner.
